Emergency Preparedness with Gina Hardin

Description

Businesses and their staff, along with our community in general, face a variety of natural, health, human-caused, and technological hazards every day. This program will discuss how to identify your risks, how to plan for them, and what the emergency response community is doing to prepare for a crisis. Resources to help with this process will be provided. Discussion will also be held on how businesses can help the community recovery from a disaster.


Who Should Attend:

Those individuals responsible for preparing their business for crisis and emergency situations. (Business leaders, facility managers, Human Resources and safety professionals, security staff, etc.)


Objectives:

  • Discuss what the emergency response community does to prepare for emergencies.
  • Review what your business should be doing to be ready for the next emergency.
  • Identify what resources area available to assist with developing an emergency plan.
  • Discuss how the whole community can help with community response and recovery in the event of an  emergency.


About the speaker:

Gina Hardin has served as the Des Moines County Emergency Management Agency Coordinator since August 1995 where she has led the county through fifteen federally declared disasters including the Floods of 2008, 2016, and 2019, plus the COVID-19 response and various other smaller non-declared disasters. Gina’s Coordinator role has allowed her to assist agencies, businesses, individuals, schools, and organizations, along with the emergency response community, develop review and test their emergency plans.
