July Gallery Show: The Words He Cannot say

7/1/2025 - 7/30/2025

Description

Leo Bird, an artist and writer from Ames, Iowa, created the graphic memoir The Words He Cannot Say to share his journey of navigating autism, bullying, and self-discovery with the help of supportive people in his life.

Through honest storytelling and a distinct visual style influenced by contrast and simplicity, Leo's work transforms life into art, inspiring kindness, courage, and reflection.

And don’t miss the artist reception - from 5 to 8 PM on Friday, July 11 - featuring live music with John Heasley, artful charcuterie and a cash bar.

In the mini-gallery, find artwork created through the Art Center's Artscapes program by individuals from local therapy groups, senior living communities, and adult day-hab programs.

Both the reception and the month-long show are free and open to the public.
