Danville Early Learning Center - Daycare Paraeducator

Overview: As a classroom Paraeducator at Danville Early Learning Center, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of young children. Working closely with teachers and other staff members, you will contribute to creating a positive and enriching learning environment.

This position will be expected to work approximately 25-40 hours per week.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting (preferred but not required).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Classroom Activities:
  • Collaborate with lead teachers to implement lesson plans and classroom activities.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students as directed by the teacher.
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of materials for instructional activities.

Health and Safety:

  • Classroom should maintain the staff and student ratio at all times
  • If cell phones are visible during class time, it is considered as time spent out of the room and not in adherence to the required staff to student ratio
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during classroom activities, transitions, and outdoor play.
  • Monitor students during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional times.
  • Collaborate with support staff to address health and safety concerns promptly.

Communication:

  • Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, parents, and other team members.
  • Share observations and insights regarding student progress and challenges with the lead teacher.

Behavioral Guidance:

  • Support the implementation of behavior management strategies established by the teacher.
  • Reinforce positive behavior and encourage students to adhere to classroom expectations.

Professional Development:

  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and stay informed about best practices in early childhood education.
  • Collaborate with co-workers and participate in team meetings to share best practices and improve overall program quality.
