Elementary Principal (2025-2026 School Year)

Overview

The Danville Community School District is hiring an Elementary Principal to start in the 2025-2026 school year. Within Danville CSD, the elementary school principal assumes the pivotal role of educational leader and administrative steward. Charged with nurturing a vibrant learning atmosphere, advancing academic excellence, and ensuring the holistic welfare of students, faculty, and staff, this position demands a blend of visionary leadership, instructional oversight, student advocacy, community collaboration, and professional enhancement. Salary will be discussed with applicant upon interviewing. The minimum salary is $80,000, with the potential for negotiation based on experience.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Iowa Teaching License required
  • Valid Iowa Administrator License required
  • Master's degree in educational leadership or a related field.
  • Previous administrative experience in a school setting (preferred but not required).
  • Strong understanding of educational trends, curriculum development, and effective teaching practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the DCSD Administration.  
Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Administration:
    • Provide visionary leadership to the school community, setting goals and objectives aligned with the district's mission and vision.
    • Supervise and evaluate teaching staff, support staff, and administrative personnel.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective school operation.
    • Communicate regularly with parents, students, staff, and stakeholders to foster positive relationships and maintain a supportive school environment.
  • Instructional Leadership:
    • Foster a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
    • Support curriculum development, implementation, and alignment with state standards and district objectives.
    • Provide professional development opportunities for teachers to enhance instructional practices and student outcomes.
    • Analyze data and assessment results to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions.
    • Promote innovative teaching methods and educational technologies to enhance student engagement and achievement.
  • Student Support and Discipline:
    • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment conducive to learning.
    • Implement and enforce school discipline policies fairly and consistently.
    • Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and other support personnel to address student behavioral and academic needs.
    • Promote positive behavior management strategies and programs to foster a positive school climate.
    • Contributes to a school culture that promotes social-emotional learning, character education, and a whole-child approach to schooling 
  • Community Engagement:
    • Collaborate with parents, guardians, and the community to build strong relationships and support systems.
    • Communicate regularly with the community through newsletters, meetings, and other channels to keep them informed about school activities and achievements.
  • Professional Development and Self-Improvement:
    • Pursue ongoing professional development opportunities to stay abreast of current educational trends, research, and best practices.
    • Engage in professional organizations and networks to exchange ideas and resources with colleagues.
